About us

Dave Hessel has been an Assistance Dog Instructor for NEADS (also known as Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans), since 1999. He also fundraises for Canines For Disabled Kids, Inc. He graduated from Clark University in 1998 with a degree in Psychology. He is a member of APDT and an avid proponent of positive and reward based training. He is currently raising 3 young trainers to take over his business someday (James, 10... Jake 7, and Levi, 1).

Dave's Dog Training Co. is a family and dog friendly training company. Our goal is to solve your dog-related problems ASAP! And we believe in having fun doing it! We love dogs and look forward to meeting yours! Its an honor for us, and we love educating our clients with the latest dog training techniques.... We also love seeing happy, friendly dogs with a lifetime of freedom ahead!

Our methods are positive, fun, easy, and effective!! What good would it be if it didn't work? They are founded in science. We won't boggle you down in theory (although, yes we do enjoy talking about it!), we will just get right down to it! "Positive and Fun" doesn't imply permissive. It just means that there are alternatives to using aversives in training (like hitting, shaking, leash jerking and worse... yikes!). In fact, these alternatives are actually a much more efficient way of training your dog. So what that means for you is that you can train your dog faster, and you can keep your conscience while you're at it.
